Haya Hamalka

Haya Hamalka is a self-taught French-Israeli artist who came to painting later in life, following a long career in the fields of healing and personal development.

Having lived between Paris, Los Angeles, and Israel, and traveled extensively throughout her life, she developed a deep interest in the ways cultures, traditions, and perspectives intersect and influence one another. An ongoing exploration of spiritual and philosophical traditions further shaped her understanding of identity, belonging, and the human experience.

The loss of her mother marked a turning point, leading her toward painting as a new space for exploration and creative expression.

Working through painting, collage, and mixed media, she combines acrylics, natural pigments, jute, wood, paper, and found materials in an ongoing dialogue between matter and light. Guided by intuition and experimentation, her work explores memory, transformation, cultural dialogue, and layers of belonging.

Moving between abstraction and figuration, she is particularly interested in what emerges when distinct worlds meet—cultures, histories, languages, traditions, and perspectives.

She has exhibited her work in Israel and continues to explore questions of identity, belonging, and human connection through an evolving artistic practice rooted in curiosity, discovery, and material exploration.
